April, 2020 - Covid-19 (Coronanavirus) Update:

*Asterisks denote most recent updates
04/03/2020: 12:00 PM Eastern (UTC -5:00):
At this time, we are able to stay open, as we are an essential business, and not a place of gathering according to current local restrictions. Our operations are currently running normal, and stock items are available to ship from our facility in North Carolina on schedule.

Transit delays may occur once your package is picked up by the carrier. We strongly recommend adding your email address when checking out to receive tracking information automatically. So far, domestic shipments have been arriving on schedule. Shipping

*Hours of Operation and Customer Service: Our hours of operation are still 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. However, we are experimenting with extending our customer service hours. We are doing this by allowing one customer service rep to come in later and work until 8:00 in order to create improved social distancing practices. We have left this to be completely optional to the individual, and we are not asking anyone to work more hours than usual. All we are asking of our employees is to let us know if they can make it in or not. They will get paid either way. As it stands right now, we will be available to take telephone calls until 8:00 PM Eastern all this week until Friday. On Saturday 04/03/2020, we will be available for phone calls from 10:00 AM Eastern to 1:00 PM Eastern, but shipping will resume Monday. Our number is 800-915-2320. For questions, or feedback, please don't hesitate to send an Email.

*Out of Stock Items: Our order volume is currently in very wide fluctuation. This means our reorder points can be tricky to interpret, and some common items may be temporarily out of stock.

Drop Ship and Special Order Customers: Our manufacturers are doing their best to fill your orders promptly. But, virus-related delays are likely and plant shut downs are possible. We will do our best to keep you informed. All of our suppliers are taking necessary precautions. Here is the current situation with our main suppliers:

A&E
(North Carolina, Global) - Minimal Impact.
Fil-Tec (Maryland) - Normal Operations.
Service Thread
(North Carolina) - Normal Operations.
Eddington
(Pennsylvania) - Operational after a temporary shutdown, but experiencing a backlog.
Aurifil (Illinois, Italy) - Limited operations. We have removed special order selections from our site.

Special Thanks:
The Thread Exchange Team -
Thank you so much for your outstanding work. I'm very proud of you! - Jerry

Cultivated Cocktails, Asheville, NC - For providing hand sanitizer and surface cleaner to businesses around the region - asking only for donations. Thank you very much for serving our community.

Face Masks: We have received inquiries from customers about sewing face masks. The most common types of thread used are General Purpose Thread (Spun Polyester), Nylon and Polyester Thread - Sizes 15 to 33, Monofilament - Sizes .006 to .009, and Wooly Nylon. Our thread is clean in the normal sense, but it is not sterile. We will not knowingly sell thread for sterile applications. We strongly recommend your finished product is washed thoroughly.
