Schiffli embroidery thread was originally made for giant embroidery machines. The Schiffli Embroidery Thread gives information about it modern day uses, packaging, and history.
Uses - Schiffli rayon embroidery thread is a 30 weight thread that is heavier than regular embroidery thread. This makes it ideal for embroidering large areas like numbers on sports jerseys. It is also great for hand embroidery and crochet. It is not recommended for embroidering tight patterns
Packaging - Schiffli comes on spools with cardboard ends as shown in the picture. Spools have about 3,000 yards and are about 4 inches high and 2.5 inches wide. They can be bought as single spools or cases of 20.
Our Schiffli embroidery thread was originally made for giant Schiffli embroidery machines like the one on the right. These room-size monsters turned out thousands of emblems, insignias, chevrons, and logos at a time using incredible amounts of embroidery thread. The Schiffli machines have left for other places, but their thread remains here waiting to be re-purposed.
